Be Alert and Make no Effort

God is really only another artist. He invented the giraffe, the elephant and the cat. He has no real style, He just goes on trying other things.

Be absolutely alert and make no effort

Three Confidence Tips

Good Morning

'I'm here watching you and you're not good enough. Other people are better and they are judging you.'

(I don't actually hear a voice. It's just my own thoughts.)

Here are two things I've learnt that help prevent this unhelpful habit. These are not my ideas and I can't remember whose they are, so if you know, tell me and I'll acknowledge them.

1. Walk about as though you actually own the place.

2. Imagine you're wearing a crown on your head. That'll make you feel better, perform better and be less likely to lose your confidence.

And here's another one for when the voice is persistent:

3. Sit in a chair and say the critical thing to your imaginery self in another chair, then swap chairs and say what you want to say back.

(A mentor taught me this one.)

Wear the crown while you do it. Pull rank on the inner critic.

This last one you should do in private so that you're not inhibited. You'll have to listen to the inner critic, even writing down what it says, so that you know exactly what your comeback needs to be. Give it a stern, sensible talking to, rather than just telling it that you're awesome, which is probably not true.

You have to actually swap chairs.

Your problem is you're... too busy holding onto your unworthiness
